I like the explanation a trader gave earlier today.. these "gaps" are played by some.. and sometimes the bids are put in above the gap - especially with companies like IPIX that have near term catalysts and can explode upwards (I kind of added that last part.. lol)

Anyway, the gist of it is sometimes those playing the gaps don't want to get too greedy - especially with stocks that hold so much promise.

We may never close that gap:)
