I wish I knew as this is super intriguing. I don't know what the mechanism of A2-73 might be that could potentially modify the gut microbiome composition.
Did those patients have a change in diet for the better i.e. correlation rather than causation? Seems to me changing diet and life style must be a far higher priority than relying on drugs to fix the gut.
No conclusions can be drawn as this apparent two-way gut/brain interaction discovery was based on just one poop sample at a single snapshot in time. So no before after comparison.
Anavex have said they will be sampling at several time points including in the PDD and AD studies as well as OLE studies if I recall correctly.
