Short answer is I believe the very carefully monitored low absolute lymphocyte group demonstrated an early and abnormal pattern of eventing and response that when checked by the DSMB then NWBO's blinded Spring Refresh led to the hold upon unblinded review by the DSMB and or CRO who might have seen SOC doing poorly as expected but treatment outperforming by a wide margin after resolution of pseudoprogression like response, as in no more tumor ie Kat's Cure. This group of patients typically PFS and OS events very early and the fact that they were being so closely monitored seems like a preplanned opportunity to have someone observe rapid response.
