And you are probarbly right regarding parts of Africa as well.

JL brought up (very early - months ago) the thoughts about big parts of malaria areas being possible imune to covid - sars2 (as is lupus patients for taking hydroxychloroquine).

This might very well be another factor 'helping' the enormous areas of 'third world' where malaria is a problem.
