#195441 RE: excel #195440

Probably pandemics weren't in any contracts before, my guess is those things will be in every contract from this point on though. Now I know this gonna sound ridiculous what I'm about to say but here's the arguement of the owners, and in my opinion it shouldn't hold water.

It would be like a Hotel owner saying they were gonna pay there staff at a much less rate, thanks to the fact that the hotel is only occupied by 25%. of course in reality they couldn't do that. So why should the owner get away with this, because we can't fill the seats and the players and there family is the one with all the risks, yet they should take another paycut, in addition to 1/2 there salary already being missing do to 1/2 the games not being played, at a certain point if we are getting 25-30% of the salary is it worth the risk to the family and you, yes the guy who is making 20 million a year it is worth it, but the guy in pre arb who would of made 500k, already we down to 250 by playing 1/2 the season than we take another cut thanks to the owners, than we have agents fees, what are they actually making, not to feel sorry for a guy making 100-150k pretax in a year, but the risks, because I don't believe you can social distance in a locker room or a dugout is it worth it, think about your roster, I would say about about 50% of your roster is that kind of player (especially with expanded rosters this year) and that is a hard sell to a player. Personally I think this is a waaaaaaaaaaay for ownership to try to sneak a salary cap into the game with the % of revenues and they are using this as an excuse, and some fans will be like they make too much money players so stop complaining, but this is ownership trying to take advantage of a horrible situation to advance a position in my opinion. Nothing more, nothing less. And they are trying to renegotiate a contract that was signed, and than when they shut it down in march they originally agreed to pro rata at that point. I don't like when people go back on the word, normally I'm kind of neutral but in this case I don't think players after already missing 1/2 the salary with 1/2 the season gone should have to take another pay cut, and also add in the risk to them and there family, that is why in this case I agree with the players in my opinion.
