The EPA compound that Vascepa is made from is found in fish oil. Saying it is derived from fish oil implies (to me anyway) that fish oil is somehow the source of the magic. It’s not. EPA in triglyceride form is extracted from fish oil because fish is a handy source that can be commercially exploited. Algae actually make the EPA. Various minerals are found in regular dirt; however, extracting them from geological formations where they are concentrated is more commercially viable. Amarin did a poor job of differentiating Vascepa from fish oil over the years and now they are paying a heavy price.
