Yes, the accumulation of elevated levels of mitochondrial calcium ions were clearly associated with, probably caused or contributed to Alzheimer’s symptoms.

What might happen, then, if blarcamesine (Anavex 2-73) were administered to the Alzheimer’s mice before any symptoms developed; before the accumulated calcium might have precipitated the amyloid deposits?

In this case, would blarcamesine be successfully prophylactic; a prevention of the onset of Alzheimer’s symptoms?

Wouldn’t be difficult to test this. Results would provide greater clarity of a specific mechanism of action (MOA) of blarcamesine.
