Sure. He's at least very good at that, as are all successful con artists. He lives in the moment, for the most part. He knows nothing about history, and doesn't think it's important. What happened yesterday, what he or anyone else said yesterday, doesn't matter.
He believes most people are the same: that they just forget about yesterday, and are willing to take whatever he says today at face value. And perhaps some of his followers do think that way. But if their friends and relatives begin to die, they're likely to take a different view.
I think even Trumpty is aware that if there's a new outbreak of the virus come fall, he'll be in BIG electoral trouble.
