They could have made him interim CEO and she could have been Chairman of the board, at least he had the know how of what it takes to get the deal and what it takes to close the deal. It’s all about who gets the Glory. Ego is a business killer. He proved himself in bringing the deals forward since he came aboard. He should be the closer.
