Information on a server is stored on that server so it can get corrupted and also be hacked. That is old school technology. Cloud servers are multiple servers that share information between other servers (in the cloud), but do not store the information on any one particular server. This is (relatively) new technology that is more secure and not subject to corruption like it would be using a dedicated server.
