Hi Michael,
Thank you for your thoughts and it's the weekend so I am going to dive into this conversation LOL.
I am mostly independent myself. I think both sides have partisan ties to their base and don't ever entertain reasonable solutions on certain topics.
Take immigration. There are common sense solutions in the middle. But each party is so dug in on their extreme views, mainly in concert with their base, that they will not entertain anything resembling common sense.
Guns. Repubs fear the NRA and the money machine behind it and won't for a minute entertain reasonable solutions like stronger background checks and banning assault weapons. There is a reasonable solution there in the middle waiting to happen. I personally lean Dem on this issue, so long as the proposal is not to remove guns from citizens entirely. Repubs won't allow any common sense solutions on guns to occur though.
And one of the fears I have personally in regard to Dems is religious liberty. You hear Dems all the time catering to the victim classes. But you rarely, if ever, hear them defending the right of religious liberty, or if they do it is very rare. I fear one day that the "everyone is a victim" mentality will stretch too far and encroach on my right to serve God as I choose. One Dem Presidential candidate from Texas even went as far to say if churches and religious institutions don't adopt certain government views they would be stripped of their tax exempt status. He should be reminded this is 100% contrary to the MAIN reason this great country was born.
Environment. I lean Dem on this issue, so long as it is not the extreme progressive views of one young (mostly clueless) House representative from NY.
Personally, I like the idea of running the country as a CEO. I think someone that has a business background should be doing it. I think business executives are some of the smartest people around. We just have the WRONG ONE in the White House now. He's not smart, or reasonable, or Presidential. He's just not.
Let Mark Cuban run. He said this week he might. I don't know that much about his views, yet. But I'm interested to hear them, I can tell you that.
