"Your monotonic, run-on sentence style, delivery was the oral equivalent of plain, dry, white toast, minus the taste and color."

I have no real concern about kandy kane's image...hes a scientist not a spokesperson...as long as he can stand in the background without passing out, hes good...

"Vietnam will become the place where it all started and shall profit handsomely."

although the new developments are great, I don't know that they matter that much when it comes to Vietnam...clothing doesn't need to be made with fiber that is 10 times stronger than Kevlar..so yea, kblb should just continue on with ms and ds over there...but I wouldn't plan on mass producing anything else there...the focus for everything thing else should be on the U.S. now...

"No way is DOD gonna risk this technology or shipments getting sidetracked, pilfered, delayed, reverse engineered or stolen."

the dod doesn't own this company...the risk isn't theirs to accept or not...

"ArmyO commented that having a production facility in the US sounded like DOD supply chain management."

sounds to me like Vietnam has been a lengthy huge pain in the arse and it isn't really getting better...I think if the USA is doable, its simply a better way to go..and if the army likes it, wonderful...

"He said it will happen and clearly has laid out a plan to make it happen."

everyone always thinks there is some kind of brilliant plan set in place for everything...but judging from the last ten years, lol, I really don't think so...I mean sure, maybe theres some semblance of a plan, but it usually leaves a whole lot to be desired...

"So, this also means the price this new material will command will easily justify the additional expense to set up such a facility, both equipment and labor."

yup...but kim has never seen fit to obtain a decent financial arrangement of any kind other than throwing 30 million shares at someone to cough up a million bucks...or just dilute shareholders...

its time for kim to have a real plan to fund this company and its growth potential...kandy kane needs to be provided with whatever he requires to get that work done on the disease resistant worm as soon as possible so we can start licensing it...

bigger better lab...more personnel..equipment..whatever he needs...that guy is kblb's golden goose that is laying everyone's golden ticket...

kblb needs money..they should already have it...kim refuses to do what he needs to do..in this environment theres no guarantee that he will be able to obtain money later...

"People like him live for challenges like the one he outlined. He's fired up again."

if that's kim being "fired up" we are in trouble...he had all the fortitude of a wet noodle...

"We are in good hands."

ive never really thought so...but its hands we are dealt..

We need to keep this matter straight. Darwin's bark spider silk is NOT 10 times stronger than Kevlar.

You said, "Nearly 100% pure Darwin Bark spider silk is roughly 10x stronger than Kevlar."

That is wrong. What is true is that Darwin's Bark Spider silk is 10 times tougher than Kevlar. This article that appeared in Communications Biology uses the correct statement.

Darwin's Bark spider silk gains toughness through considerable elasticity. It stretches by about 91%. A 100 cm length of silk would stretch to 191 cm. (For reference, spandex stretches to somewhere between 500% to 800%.)

Kevlar stretches very little. I couldn't find an approximate number, but we're probably talking less than 20% stretch and it could easily be less than 10%.

This matters because bullet-resistant vests cannot allow much stretch. A bullet hitting Kevlar may not puncture through the shoot pack but the crater caused by the bullet can still be lethal. The depth is measured and called 'backface signature.' DoJ regs limit the depth of the backface signature to 44mm, about 1.73 inches.

As a stretchy material, Darwin's bark silk would permit a deep backface signature, disqualifying it from use in bullet-resistant vests.

Of course, there may be a way to blend Kevlar and GMO spider silk to good advantage, but Darwin's Bark spider silk would not be a good match for bullet-resistant vest applications. Whether or not there are other anti-ballistic applications, I could not say.

Beacham, Beacham, Beacham! You, Sir, are the one who hit the FREAKING GAME-WINNING WALK-OFF GRAND SLAM!!!

Nailed everything. Please come out of the dugout and tip your cap to the crowd! Get doused with the Gatorade bucket by your teammates and a shaving cream pie smashed in your face as you're talking to reporters after!

Thank you for that! Well-received and I applaud you for summarizing things so succinctly and proselike!

Wow beacham!
You definitely touched all the bases and knocked a homerun with that post. Great job. Personally however, I think Dr. Kane has earned the right to be himself in all his geeky glory having delivered the Holy Grail for the company.
I raise my glass to Dr. Kane.

I also raise my glass to you beacham.

Yeah, but then we turned around and Shot Ourselves in the Foot and then held a Press Conference where we Announced stuff but didn't bother to Explain or Promote our work so we ended up shooting off another foot.

Pretty sad looking mouse right now. 19 cents and falling.
