U.S. production of this new silk fiber is happening now in the lab. That is an assumed fact. KBLB is making MS and DS in Vietnam because it is economically feasible to do so. They cannot charge a premium for those transgenic lines. However, the new transgenic silk line will have (or has) physical characteristics that warrant a premium price to be paid for it to economically justify the establishment of commercial production in the United States. It may also be that with this superior fiber they will be able to get greater financial backing from the military to help establish commercial production and keep this technology secure. I don’t know. But I wouldn’t even be surprised if KBLB is already in discussions with Polartec or another partner about his to ramp this up as soon as possible because there is money to be made here for sure. The fiber will dictate what it is used for, but if it has 10 times more than DS like is being reported then this fiber should be considered to already be in high demand even though they aren’t making it yet. You mean large scale US production(per the webcast)....

Economics, pure and simple. They will be able to put in a plasmid cassette to make proteins as per the provisional patents. Reread GTmans post. It is very important. KBLB has discovered a new world for cheap production of proteins and polymers.....cheap even in the US.

First transgenic they expect to be made in 1st or 2nd quarter of 2021. I so hope it is a non-native silkworm protein.

We became an instant take over target yesterday, worth many billions.

I took the time to transcribe that portion of the webcast last nite.

"As recently as this past summer, I did not see a real near term path for US production, of spider silk. That's because of 1. economics and 2.because of the particular requirements for the silkworm. That has changed with this new technology. I am very happy to announce, that we now see a clear path forward, for domestic large scale production, in the United States. We think it is realistic that we could have a transgenic,(silkworm)a transgenic created specifically for US production, as early as the 1st or 2nd Q of 2021, and we could launch large scale commercial production, as early as 2023."
