Because if gas is too cheap, there will be NO Profit for the companies in making it. Therefore the entire OIL INDUSTRY will shut down and take all the jobs with it.

We will then be forced to buy from the Saudis et al. and pay through the nose.

Removing oil from the ground in America is a lot more expensive than in the Mid-East. So prices need to be at a certain minimum price point for American companies to be able to make a profit and stay in business.

Cheap Gas Prices - benefits only the lower class of population(the end users), the working class, those who work at the fast food chain, factories and wharehouse. Big Government and oil industry don't benefit, their profits shrink. And this lost profit is counted as a loss. That's the part I don't understand, how can anyone count a loss of anything that they have never had it to begin with. Maybe it would be batter expressed to say: loss of potential income/profit! ..???
