It's a scam and considered malware. You should treat it as such. Do a mbyte scan and see what turns up. In the meantime, try and uninstall that crap starting first with the windows uninstall in the control panel. But many malware manages to bypass the control panel listings.
Found a couple of links for you. And this is 3 years ago yet. But nothing has changed with that software. The second link is aged but solid advice. The free version of mlbytes is still very capable and not crippled. Of course they would love you to buy the full version. But as far as I can tell, they've never crippled the free and only offer live virus stuff with the paid. I don't have background checkers running ever, so no need for the advanced stuff offered with the pro model at this time.
