I think releasing data via PR simply isn't done. It would be like publishing results in people magazine rather than a peer-reviewed journal. It would make the claims suspect at best.
Maybe they could release an updated timeline. They don't need to give us results, but update how the patients are doing. It would be easy to read into that if we're on the right track or not.
I'm no expert but, I don't think there's anything regulatory stopping them from doing it.
