When they write the script they don't write the indication for what its used for . It's not illegal for them to write off label scripts . When the pharmacist gets the order , his/her formulary tells him/ her to prescribe the cheapest . You are assuming that on the formulary ....brand Vascepa will be priced lower than Generic Vascepa ....which would be the first time I have ever heard of a brand being priced cheaper than a generic
Either way this is not a factor until the appeals decision in 2021 as I doubt Hikma would risk an "at risk launch " until they see the decision .....assuming there is no settlement beforehand.
