You are right that we need to be better prepared for these events. Actually we had planned for this type of event but I'm not sure the current administration bothered to look at the work that had been done as far back as 2005 and 2006. We had a "National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza" and a "National Strategy for Pandemic Influenza Implementation Plan." Lives may have been saved if these documents had been followed.
