Talon, Did Gottlieb accomplish anything meaningful during his much hyped and short lived tenure?


A bunch of new guidance documents that seem useful and needed. Not sure if those would have happened anyway with or without Dr. G.

Roca.....I believe, and others as well (see the attached article) that Scott Gottlieb did quite a bit in the 22 months he was head of the FDA. As he was a cancer survivor, cancer was a focus of his efforts. As example was the establishing the Cancer Center of Excellence and working with Janet Woodcock, the leader of CDER, to institute accelerated clinical trials for oncology drugs. He also responded to the call to reduce opioid abuse and was in the midst of challenging vaping in teenagers when he departed. IMHO, he left the FDA because he could not drive the bureaucracy to move fast enough on critical health issues. He is definitely one of modern medicine's "movers and shakers" and much more an activist in the FDA than his predecessors
