I picked up my three bottles two days ago. I just broke the seal on all three bottles and I do not smell fish.

I ran the wet side at the remodel for the new Alameda FDA lab when they moved from SF to the East Bay. On the plans was the "Organoleptic" Room. This was the Food and retail consumer portion of the Northern Ca FDA that was located in that building. Packaged seafood Q/C was done in that room by a guy who was far more sensitive than the average inspector and the average inspector was far more sensitive than a guy off the street. I'm not surprised at the differences in opinion over the smell of V. It's probably mostly individual variation over a small product variation.

I'd note that one of the revolutionary hi fi speaker manufacturers of the 50's broke up their partnership over whether their products needed anything other than a bass speaker, given how close it sounded compared to a live source, each the other side of a curtain. Natural abilities are not evenly distributed and sensitivities are learned.

Incidentally, I went back to the building yo add facilities to a room that they decided to repurpose, and observed a series of tests being performed on a brand of condoms in a room I was running piping over. I talked to the FDA guy later while closing up the ceiling tiles and I got him to let me run a few of the test for me. I'll tell the story at LV II.
