Well that’s not entirely accurate. I’m not even saying this is what happened here but cusip numbers get suspended for all kinds of reasons ranging from “empty debt ridden corn sludge shell” to “complex restructuring GOOD THINGS COMING”. That’s why we can only have opinions at this time.

Yes I have suspended cusips safely in my account . The longest going on 12 years . The only way a cusip can truly be canceled is by the company that issued it . The only thing the courts , sec or finra can cancel is the trading symbol making the stock worthless. The corporation can be dissolved. The stock wont trade but you still own it and nobody can take it from you . So the notion that shares will just disappear is also a fairytale. Unless a plan is submitted to take all those shares . And the owners of those shares must vote on it before it could happen .

You can forfeit now if you believe the investment is worthless...and claim some losses for tax purposes...I would not recommend holding 12 years...but to each and their own....The market was quite generous in 2019 to most of us...The naysayers can unload right now if they want a little tax relief...2020 may not be so wonderful...so get it while you can right away...just my observation and strictly opinion of course...
