As I understand it, cusip numbers are never reused and thus never deleted. So, they can only suspend a cusip number. The stock symbol gets deleted and reused. so, the argument that the cusip number is only suspended doesn't really help.
If one were getting anything from this from holding the stock, cash or new shares, I suspect that would be known by now. However, it is true that there is no urgency to making any decision as for 2020 taxes, there is plenty of time to take the tax loss. It may still show up with the cusip number or some other identifier on the brokerage statements though. I had to request the deletion of that from my account from my brokerage for another stock I had well after the bankruptcy of that company.
