In primary care the DM population that has an indication for V overwhelms the established CVD population, especially since 50-75% of patients with DM have elevated trigs and almost all should be on a statin and almost all have 2 rf's.
90% of patients with DM are cared for by Primary care and not endocrinologists so we have to get our brethren educated on V as I think this is the biggest benefit of any medical intervention available that we can offer our patients (maybe aside from stopping smoking)
