Lemmiwinks, PFE might not consider an offer for AMRN as "big M&A." Then again perhaps they have no interest in paying out an offer acceptable to JT and his BOD. All it takes is one motivated BP CEO who believes in the science of EPA for the prospect of a deal to emerge. Regardless, no BP is going to telegraph their M&A intent unless or until it serves their purpose.
Other CEO’s have said that before and then Too good to pass up opportunity comes up and they do it anyways. It does mean if a BO is close, they probably lost out to someone else.
