Docs will write “Vascepa 2g bid, give 1 month with 11 refills” in almost every case. They won’t call it Omega 3 or EPA or anything else.

Generic Vascepa is by definition equivalent to Vascepa and therefore can be substituted for any prescription for Vascepa in ANY situation. The only “issue” is whether or not the pharmacist or insurance company is braking any laws by dispensing generic Vascepa for a Pt who is being treated for CVD prevention. There is no way for the pharmacist to know the real indication and therefore which is TECHNICALLY correct.
