That depends on what you mean by “massive gains”. You are correct that the idea of large multiples has already passed by based on the share price alone, but some options investors only care about large dollar gains. For instance, if I were to buy 100 OTM call contracts at 10 cents a share and there is a buyout offer that causes the share price to jump from $30 to $50, I make a ton of money.
