Hi Gary, I certainly hope that in the near future introduction of better treatments or even a cure for most cancers will also eliminate your dependence on chemo. I believe that progress in defeating the various cancer diseases is accelerating and I believe that one day the negative impact of this disease will be greatly diminished.
Regarding the better survival performance of the last 108 patients, I am guessing that the introduction of 5-ALA as a visual aid to surgery may have played a positive role. I am also guessing that the last 31 to be enrolled were all treatment patients and if this is true, that most likely also boosted the survival performance of that group.
Perhaps when we receive the complete results of this trial we will be able to make a better judgment as to why the last 1/3 of the trial demonstrated this superior long term survival capability.
