As someone who was once a part of the Trump side, I can tell you many of the people who voted for him in 2016 did so more to stop Hillary than anything else. I can't stand many of the tools (Hannity, dweeby Charlie Jerk, various NYC stooges, etc) Trump has surrounded himself with since the election. I also never thought airhead Ivanka would play such a role in the government!
Trump could lose many of his 2016 voters, but the Ds MUST nominate someone who more conservative voters could support. This is literally so easy.. all the Dems have to do is nominate Biden IMO, & (as long as he chooses a moderate VP) they'd have a great chance in 2020! That said, many Independents will go right back to Trump, whether they like him or not, if Warren or Bernie are the alternatives.
I personally wanted Mattis to run third-party but doesn't look like it's going to happen.
