It’s called ‘stacking’ or ‘spoofing’. Essentially, putting out offers that you know won’t get hit, in order to discourage the other side of the trade.

A lot of the big banks do this in commodities, which is illegal.

Regulators don’t seem to care in these kinds of exchanges. MM exploit that.

MM’s try to control and manipulate retail investors. We invest with emotion and they know that. You are more likely to gobble up buying a small block on the ask thinking that’s all the supply at that level and it will be gone soon with the price increasing. A big block ask is usually to deter potential buys to either keep a stock trading within a range or to try and trigger more selling. Stay with your plan of solid DD on the stocks you buy and the manipulation won’t matter if you are in it long term.
