It's not that old... Rick Santelli uses the phrase regularly on CNBC.

Stocks have dividends, and bonds have the coupon.

I worked for a N.A. bank and on good day I'd take in anywhere from $35-$50M in US Treasury bonds. All payable to the BEARER.

Don't think I wasn't tempted. lol.

I had one customer come in one day with Whoops coupons. I had to tell him to take them home and frame them.

I did end up buying some 10 year treasuries during the Jimmy Carter days. Would I love to see a yield like that again.
