Interesting stuff, gave me an idea [light bulb here ;]
Integral, are you or anyone here able to look closely at the tape, MMs, SS, etc,.. and determine fairly closely what dynamic is in play in terms of what the MMs, note holders, co. are trying to achieve?. I know generally these are all simply factors that inform supply and demand in the marketplace - but I'm picturing an annotated reading of the tape - for instance; .. ok, here's a big note, then MM proceeds to hide the ask, oops, here's retail panic sell, mid-day news/peeps buying it, etc,...
From our earlier example about the frequency of co.s defying rules RNVA (which btw didn't defy so far as a "deadline" passed) - has traded 100s of millions shares with ask and bids disappearing and reappearing, going from very low volume one day to a billion share the next, quite a bit of back and forth. 
Anyhow, the point would be two-fold (or more) 1. educational to read patterns 2. A lot of people watching RNVA are totally baffled by the sp movements and co. intentions.
Just an idea, may be too much trouble ..
