I do not disagree that he could be a good hire. It is the meme that his hire somehow indicates something more than an employee hiring that I disagree with.
just because you have a title doesn't mean you cannot perform lesser duties, ie opening an account. that role may be performed by lower level employees, but doesn't mean the vp cant do it.
as head of my department, I still perform many tasks typically done by entry level staffers. my staff appreciates that just because I have a title now, doesn't mean I cant do the real work.
