Of course if a doctor decides to prescribe a drug he will not concern
himself who manufactures or sells it. My point is that anyone who sees
the Vascepa commercial may not even notice that it is a prescription
product because there is not the same name association that would be there
with Pfizer or JNJ. Someone seeing the Vacepa commercial might believe
it is just another fish oil purveyor. Today I saw a Vascepa commercial
on the NBC network news. Well done, hopefully it will make people
become more comfortable with the name "Vascepa." Ask anyone who is
not an investor in AMRN or is being prescribed Vascepa and ask if he
knows what Amarin is...then ask if he knows what Vascepa is...my guess
is less than 5% could answer either question accurately. If you
then asked what Pfizer is, they could tell you...ask what Viagra is,
and they could tell you. Branding an unknown product is very hard
to do...could a Johnson & Johnson pull it off? Sure! Could AMRN
pull it off? Time will tell.
