Hi Kiwi; I thought mention of fibrates "strange" because my recollection
was that statin/fibrate trial ACCORD had failed! Seems that was only partly
correct as subgroup analysis gave new life to fibrates!

checking the ACCORD trial
"Overall, the ACCORD Lipid trial was negative.
There is no evidence from this trial to indicate that fenofibrate should be routinely added to a statin for the treatment of lipids in patients with type 2 diabetes.
Indeed, routine addition of fenofibrate might be harmful for women with type 2 diabetes.
However, the ACCORD data, together with post hoc analyses of three other fibrate trials, suggest that, when TG is >200 mg/dL and HDL is <35 mg/dL after statin therapy has significantly reduced LDL cholesterol levels, fibrate treatment can be considered, at least in men."

Wow ...forget Fibrates

The emphasis on "fish oil" and suggestion of fenofibrate is a dash of ketchup on my piece of wedding cake. (At least I can see the ketchup on the cake. But Mayo?) Yes the Mayo Clinic riff is another brick inna wall.... but there is still a lot of wall to build and every brick is useful. This brick is chipped and discolored, but it can be used and eventually become a minor contributor and will play it's part.

So I tweaked my back recently and while a decade ago I could have gone in to the doc and gotten a mason jar of morphine, a carboy of codeine, or a vase of Vicodin, now apparently they are sending patients home from root canals and with an oil burning case of sciatica with a bottle of ibuprofen or naproxen. I got a heavy duty muscle relaxant this time and while it dulls the pain, it mostly dulls me. So I've been catching up on the board on off periods, usually about 18 hrs worth of posts at a time. For a slam dunk, there sure is a lot off emotion and stress here and coincident with the price movement. For such an eventual slam dunk, there sure is a lot of stress.

In retrospect, we were too far down Tuesday, bounced Wednesday on the conference and held it today in the face of profit taking because the pressure is building. Relax and pretend the future is so bright, you hafta wear shades. There will be less territorial hissing and spitting crap if you aren't in such need of distraction.
