Not all north Jersey ShopRites are owned by the Inserras. The Inserra stores closest to me are dumps. They fix them up every 5+ years but the decline starts almost immediately because they don't maintain them.

The Inserras are charitable people, no doubt, but they skimp on personnel and the stores suffer as a result. Give me Wegmans any day of the week over a crappy Inserra ShopRite.

What is nice is Shop Rite has Wine and Spirits attached next door and I can always buy a decent bottle of wine, but I gotta leave my cart full of food out side the door and carry my receipt so Shop Rite Grocery don't think I stole the wine

Pathmark is racist. I gotta long story, but will leave it for another day....

I like Zeytuna in FIDI, skrew Pathmark. Heck, I even like ACME for groceries. When up in midtown, I shop at Delmonicos, I think it is at 59th and 5th. And In FIDI, there is a market on John's St and a deli on Nassau behind the FED building. I love the Hanover Deli, but they are not a grocer, I just love the bacon egg and cheese on a roll with fries for breakfast. Kids get pancakes with fries. At 9 am on a Monday it is like three card monte or the shell game, you cannot see where your food goes, but some how they throw your food around and somehow when you get home, its yours and not a BLT.

I do like the real Delmonicos in FIDI, as well as Aqua Grill for seafood in SOHO, Sparks make a great steak, a Top Sirloin btw. Umbertos in Little Italy makes great baked clams, so does Patsy's in midtown.

So many places, not enough time.

I'll even take Union Market and Stop and Shop in Brooklyn before I will ever Pathmark. Targeee in the mall at the LIRR station at Atlantic/Pacific/Flatbush is better than any Parthmark.
