but why isn't it logical to suspect the o/s may increase much sooner than everyone is willing to consider?

You said it yourself: the increase in a/s is likely the company's back door to raising cash if they need it after signing JV and want to prevent complications that not having it could cause. As on the ball as Kanno and the gang seem to be, why isn't it logical to believe they have already figured out they're going to need more cash in the immediate future - which is why they raised the a/s in anticipation of raising more cash.

It is a logical deduction. I just want a logical reason to believe the float is not going to increase soon... and leave us all trading sideways longer than anticipated.
