I'm VERY familiar with T during that period... its price and its dividends. If Grandpa became a millionaire it was mostly the Good Ole American Way... by saving and spending carefully.

Grandpa probably could have done nearly as well putting the money in the bank.

Grandpa would have done much better in an S&P 500 index fund during that time... (alas virtually no such funds existed in the 1960s).

Still, congrats to Grandpa.
