Wouldn't read too much into who's presenting. I doubt that they expected much from pancreatic cancer initially. He may have stepped up to run the project when the senior people passed or delegated the work a couple of years ago and it just happened to "hit". It's his work/responsibiity and he should present it. Again, just more speculation on my part. i could be wrong.

Obviously I know your long so I won't go into a ton of detail but I'll give you some counter points to your reservations.

1) Of course it would have been nice to have data presented at ASCO. They tried. Not going to go into details because it has already been discussed in length back in April. If the company got the initial readout before December of last year I would all but guarantee their abstract would have been accepted to ASCO. The timing just didn't work out and that's to no fault of Marker or BCM. The other options after ASCO, other than presenting at AACR, were to just PR the data or submit to ESMO in September. They decided not to go the PR route because their IR team thought it best to present at a medical conference. Submissions to medical conferences are considered peer reviewed and you can submit the entire data set all at once. If they didn't want to wait for AACR or ESMO they could have issued a PR with topline data, then give detailed data at medical conference but that is not ideal as then they would be presenting data in pieces rather than all at once. I think presenting at AACR is the next best thing and I won't hold that against anyone. What really matters is what the data shows, not where it is presented.

2) I would lean towards poods' answer here. I understand this reservation but Dr. Smaglo is the one running the trial so it makes sense he would be the one to present the data. Regardless of his experience I don't think he would be leading this trial if BCM didn't think he was capable. I don't have the medical background that you have so I am fine defaulting to BCM's judgement.

3) I don't know why they chose to do the call. You can only speculate which everyone is already doing. It can be spun as a positive or a negative. If your assumption is correct then I don't really see how that is a bad thing. Anything they can do to get the news to more people will help.
