I don't know how you differentiate between what Adam F says about biotech companies, and what Analysts say, his columns provide the same sort of advice that Analysts do. I agree that he's a hack, he largely supports shorting stocks, but he speaks like he knows something about what he's saying, which most Analysts do as well.
Frankly I don't hold most Analysts at much higher esteem than I do Adam F as most don't look seriously at companies when targets they establish are met. On many occasions I've seen a company rise to meet, or exceed the Analyst's target only to see them lower the company from buy to hold. When the company doubles again they take full credit, because they didn't say sell. The problem is investor's take downgrades as sell indications as the Analyst's always have something new rated buy, and investors sell the holds to purchase the buys.
People do follow Adam F's advice, he may not work for a broker, or a specific group, but he's followed like an Analyst by many, so I treat him like one.
