400,000 copies is huge. You can't just point to the biggest smash hits like Exploding Kittens or CAH and say that selling millions of copies is a normal thing...for every CAH you have 10,000 flops. The barriers to entry in making indie games is low and competition is high. It's almost impossible to tell which games are going to make it huge and which aren't.

It's as though we're talking about an Indie movie being released and you tell me look, Marvel flicks consistently bank over 1bn$! Ok, how many flop...? KTU wouldn't even have made it to market at all if Snakes didn't take it in, Morning went bankrupt remember?

I think Snakes is well-positioned to sell KTU properly, to the major retailers, so I do expect a nice sales figure. Snakes can turn what was just another Indie game failure into at least a modest market success.

But, the only reason that this game will do well is the Snakes and Lattes brand supporting it. Its connections to Walmart and Indigo Chapters. Its board game cafe locations with thousands of customers. Its social media accounts. Etc etc etc. NOT because the game is sexy or self-publishing is sexy. Again, Morning went bankrupt before even getting this to market, just like the vast majority of indie game studios. It's a crap-shoot out there.

Again, and I've been over this too many times, the competitive advantage here is the board game cafes. KTU is simply another way to cash in on the popularity of the cafes. But the Board Game Cafe brand is the only thing of real, true value about Snakes. Thankfully it's got enough value to hit NASDAQ, if they focus on it adequately...the only value of KTU to me is that hopefully it will help build cafes faster if it makes a decent profit. Which is sorely needed imo.
