When you are learning on the go and you think a trial in GBM should be over in about 5 years but lack of initial funding and then improvements in understanding occur, you either need investors that understand what is going on and know how to deal with it without jumping ship or you cloud the waters build up your own pisition and find ways to maintain interest without sinking your ship by doing so.
