According to the news links from the band site, he signed the Amethyst deal back on Dec. 20, but waited over four months to announce it publicly. I'd say he's playing a long game, and isn't too concerned at all about the short term pump like we see with so many other garbage tickers.
Makes me wonder what else he's already accomplished behind the scenes, that we'll be finding out about in the weeks to come.
