The SEC allows so much corruption, from naked shorting, stock manipulation, to corrupt mangement, one has to wonder why it even exist.

It is one of the few government agencies that has the ability to recoup any expenditures it accumulates during their enforcement of the law, yet they are so reluctant to do so.

I asked my cousin decades ago, the one that owned the largest law firm in the US at the time, on the way to the airport after his fathers funeral, how the law business was doing. My older brother had told me a decade earlier he spent most of his time trying to limit how much money the people working for him (including lawyers, LOL) stole from him, lawyers included!

Anyway, his answer was that the law firms starve to death unless the economy is crashing or booming, people are either starting businesses or bankrupting them. That was back in the 1970s. Much has changed since then.
