Financial advantage? Could be the difference of billions. It's all up to what those who are looking to make the purchase feel the risk of losing what amount in court. The numbers are leading towards a potential settlement of upwards of $3 billion dollars and quite frankly could be a lot more. All depends on what the judge and jury decide the percentage of revenue the patents operate in in regards to the MSOs. The patents definitely do not cover the entirety of revenue streams for the MSOs so they need to figure out what percentage of their business is benefiting from the patents at hand. If the reward ended up being something like $3 billion dollars then Arris would be on the hook for a very good portion of that. Definitely well over $1.5 billion. With that being said why does it not make sense for them to buyout Chanbond for $750 million - $1.5 billion and own the patents and license them out for the future and go after infringers that are not their customer if they so please to go that route. However the numbers are very volatile. And also being so volatile from our point of view - tough to say what Carter is willing to accept or not. He has a lot more intelligent advisors and experience in this industry so he can probably get a range of what to expect from a victory in court vs our knowledge. So who knows he is even willing to accept something under $1 billion.

I see a buyout being the second most likely event in this case. Most likely in my opinion is the MSOs settling before this gets too out of hand for them to argue. They have a very weak case right now and they know it. Best they get settled then get the process going on indemnities owed by Arris.

Regardless all things lead to money coming in this year besides of course a full run at trial which could set up a potential storyline for the ages and movies will be made about this case especially so because of the dynamic of guys like us who found it early on and got in on the action. Somebody will pony up the money to make that movie and they will be looking for us to tell our story.
