Hondo ...besides the seasonal issue that Amarin has addressed previously ....there are multiple reasons why patients don't renew their meds .

Some that my wife ...who writes scripts for CKD patients ...deals with .
1) Cost ...if they can't get low co pays
2) Pill load . Many of my wife's patients are on multiple meds having CKD, CAD and being diabetic . Adding Vascepa adds benefit but not all the drugs they are on are generic, and cost plus pill load ....add up.

Hondo:...If refills are to be a major problem ,I would suggest a bar code on the label of the Vascepa bottle,which, when the patient pays for the drug, the bar code would activate a discount on the purchase of his/her next bottle. The patient would bring the Vascepa bottle to the pharmacy and receive the discount on this follow up purchase. The pharmacy could then be compensated for the discounts directly by Amarin.
