#78064 RE: toobigtojail #78059

Judge Koh is a Harvard educated lawyer with decades of experience, including years of experience as a litigator partner for a firm handling patent law. Yeah, she's a clueless luddite with nooooo experience. <sarcasm>

I mean, she can't even write a clear, readable 45 page filing explaining every detail of ALICE and the data from VPLM's own patents to support her ruling for dismissal.

Oh wait, she can, and she did. You can read it here: https://www.scribd.com/document/403267736/VOIP-PAL-Obviousness-Ruling

I'll save you some time - skip to page 21 which is where she describes, in no uncertain terms, exactly why the the patents were invalidated as vague and abstract. She's supported her ruling with easy to understand terms, you don't have to be a VoIP routing expert to comprehend.

"...Claim 1 is abstract because first, it only discloses generalized steps to carry out generic functions, and second, because there are long-standing practices analogous to the claimed steps...."

"...Moreover, the claim does not provide for any specific implementation of the abstract idea. The claim does not specify, for instance, the content of the caller and callee identifiers, the technology that matches information in the caller dialing profile with information in the callee identifier, what network classification criteria are used to classify the call as a public network or a private network call, or how the classification is implemented...."
