Hi Doc,

Long time lurker and long here. Thank you for all of your insights through the good and tough times here. I just want to briefly mention some things and hope you will look into this further. Regarding healthy vs unhealthy fats, the info out there is very poor. But if you look at the latest studies on saturated fat and cholesterol, they are not the enemy to our health. It makes a lot of sense because the cell membrane of every cell is made up of saturated fat and cholesterol. Saturated fat and cholesterol are highly concentrated in our brain so it also makes sense that one of the side effects of cholesterol lowering drugs is memory loss and dementia. The chemistry of saturated fat vs unsaturated fat also explains why saturated fat is very stable and not easily oxidized or damaged while unsaturated fats especially the polyunsaturated fats in vegetable oils are unstable and prone to getting oxidized leading to inflammation. There is mounting evidence that it's sugar and bad fats such as trans fats as well as polyunsaturated fats in vegetable oils, but not saturated fat, that cause inflammation and heart disease. Sugar is also a culprit when it comes to cancer because sugar feeds cancer cells which cannot use ketones as fuel. That's why every cancer patient (or healthy person) should consider fasting and the ketogenic diet occasionally. My favorite healthy fat sources are coconut oil, olive oil, and avocados. Oatmeal is unfortunately not really healthy because it not only raises blood sugar but it also may contain cancer causing glyphosate. I would also be careful consuming too much peanut butter due to high probability of aflatoxin in peanuts. I just want to mention this is all from my own research and while I do have a background in medicine, what I'm saying is not medical advice. Do your own DD and everyone tolerates foods differently. I would also say consult your own doctor, but most doctors are not up to date. Unfortunately, conventional medicine is years behind when it comes to the latest health research. I highly recommend reading the writings of functional medicine docs such as Dr. Mark Hyman and Dr. Joseph Mercola when researching these topics. Best regards
