MIM has up to 20% shrinkage upon “bake”

It will not fulfill low tolerance micro hinges requirement.

There are thousands of MIM ovens world wide. Capacity should not be issue if indeed MIM is the chosen technology.

On the other hand, there are only hundred of BMG machines world wide. Capacity WILL be issue in the near term.

Foldable “capacity limitation” is disclosed everywhere. It is clearly pointing BMG is the SOLUTION.

Technology “ramping” is always a problem.....but a “nice problem” to have.

It took Samsung 10 years to mature OLED.

Josh is correct, the author of that article is incorrect in his MIM comment. There is plenty of capacity at present for volume production of MIM. Samsung may not be using BMG, but Huawei, Vivo, Oppo, Xiaomi will likely all be using BMG hinges and there certainly are going to be capacity issues meeting these demands. Not to mention that the Huawei P30 and P30 pro were just announced and the specs list the midframe as "metal" which is a bit unusual as it would usually be noted if it was aluminum alloy or stainless steel. So if Eon is producing BMG midframes for this model, that will take up a lot of capacity. But as Josh noted, this is a good problem to have.
