"Do you know anything about either of these drugs, Forteo and Tymlos? I was just diagnosed with severe osteoporosis and the rheumatologist wants to put me on one of these for 12 months-18 mos followed up by two injections of Prolio over the next year."

This isn't unusual at all. Forteo is to build bone rapidly, and the Prolia (denosumab) is used to maintain and continue to build bone. Better that than one of the bisphosphonates.

Osteoporosis / This really just crossed my eyes in an article about Regeneron, so I remembered that (= I have absolutely no idea on treatment guidelines, pipelines, whatsoever, just a coincident memory) ...

... what I took note of is that there can be a catch-up effect of bone loss after stopping the treatment. So maybe she could ask about the long term treatment strategy (after the 18 months you wrote of):

Stopping denosumab after 8 years of continued treatment was associated with bone loss during a 1-year observation study in patients who were not prescribed osteoporosis treatment. Bone loss was attenuated in patients who began another osteoporosis therapy. Treatment to prevent bone loss upon stopping denosumab should be considered.

(as I said, I just came across this fact in some article and am as educated on this topic as the next man on the street)
