#1483 RE: VortMax #1480

PT posted sometime ago about computers and software "flying" today's aircraft. I posted that airplanes such as the B-2 bomber are completely dependent on software to fly.

The size and placement of the engines on the MAX created an unstable platform that required software to enable the plane to fly well, according to sources cited earlier.

Perhaps people should not fly in civilian aircraft that are airworthy solely because of software.

I’m no engineer but I would have to agree with you. The 737 was a great design and I have no issue with anyone of them that is pre max 8.

They should of gone back to square one when they wanted to hang those bigger engines on the wing. By pushing the wing back to keep the aircraft in its C of G range for cargo and passenger they obviously changed the load carrying of the wings over its pitch axis relative to the drag forces on the front of the fuselage relative to the rear of the plane.

You would think the engineers would keep both weight and drag forces in check. Anyhow it sounds to me they compensated the drag by the intorduction of a computerized sensor. At higher speeds the sensor I guess would pick up the increased drag forward of the wing that was moved back creating an increased downward drag on the vertical stabilizer and the larger service area of the much bigger engine. This of course would be pronounced as the aircraft descended while moving quicker relative to the change of airflow over the fuselage.

They should of in retrospect left the wing were it was and extend the length of the forward fuselage. Then again computers are cheaper then figuring out and redesigning a new fuselage.

Then what do I know? That would be like asking me if I could manipulate the selling and buying of the equity to compensate the financial strain this is going to inflict on this company. Watch the numbers and act accordingly and you will make money. If you get it wrong, look out below the fall is going to hurt. Not for the faint of heart or for anyone that can’t afford to loose some cash should he or she get it wrong.

Nothing ventured nothing gained and nothing lost. Jack be nimble Jack be quick Jack jump over that falling candle stick.
